Mission, Vision & Aim
The mission of GEMS Girls’ Clubs is to help bring girls into a living, dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ.
We do this by:
- Partnering with churches and Christian organizations to establish club programmes where Christ and His Word are taught and modelled
- Training, equipping, and inspiring women to serve as club leaders and mentors
- Providing biblically-based, culturally-relevant materials (store.php) for girls
- Promoting the growth of clubs so more and more girls come to know Jesus Christ personally as their Lord and Saviour
- Partnering with parents to help them in their role as the primary faith nurturers of their children
Our Vision
Our vision is to see girls around the world expressing love for God and others—to see girls equipped, motivated, and passionately engaged in living out their faith.
Our Aim
The GEMS Aim is found in Micah 6:8.
At club, girls and counsellors (leaders) stand and say the Aim together:
Counsellor: “GEMS and GEMS counsellors, what does the Lord require of us?”
Everyone: “To act justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with our God.” Micah 6:8
Through this Aim, girls learn that:
- To act justly means to be truthful, honest, and to help make wrong things right
- To love mercy means to be kind, do good, and care for all people and creation
- To walk humbly with God means to follow God; to be grateful and thankful for who He is and for all He has done
The Titus 2 Principle
GEMS International relies on faithful women who mentor girls and help them grow in their love for God.
GEMS Clubs are based on Titus 2:3-5. We call it the Titus 2 Principle. Women teach younger women and girls what is good—to be loving, kind, self-controlled, and pure—following Christ’s example.
GEMS wants to train women to pass on their wisdom to girls—from one generation to the next.
Likewise, teach the older women to be reverent in the way they live, not to be slanderers or addicted to much wine, but to teach what is good. Then they can train the younger women to love their husbands and children, to be self-controlled and pure, to be busy at home, to be kind, and to be subject to their husbands, so that no one will malign the word of God. Titus 2:3-5
